patience
and love

tonight
i held space for a dear friend
another human being

today i struggled
with grief
with focus
with attention
on goals
aspirations
obligations
responsibilities
goals
my ego

tonight
i held space
for grief
a daughter
for her father

i wanted to focus
on my schoolwork
on my own schedule
yet being present
providing a safe place
a sacred space
was the most important place to be in the entire world

a sacrifice for all that i aim for
yet a ritual for all that i aim for
a meal, a wife, a husband
tonight, all here in my humble abode

the release of grief
the release of guilt
a safe harbor
for another human being

tonight
being present for another human being
was more important than my own goals
my own aspirations and responsibilities

tonight i fulfilled a destiny
a fate, if you will
a mission, a vision

it is of the utmost importance to the healing of the planet
for each individual to heal themselves

tonight i provided space for this path to healing
and i would do it all over again

i am an anchor to the light of Christ

for this i am grateful
to this night because
